Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Police mentioned they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior representative stated the incident made him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
